Mayoral Transitions Summer Associate

Project Description:

The Program for New Mayors: First 100 Days is an annual offering for newly elected mayors in U.S. cities with over 75,000 residents. During last year’s program, we developed the New Mayor Roadmap, a guide to help new mayors navigate leadership and managerial elements of their transition. The City Support team seeks a creative, proactive, and detail-oriented Summer Associate to support the development of the next version of the New Mayor Roadmap.

The Mayoral Transitions Summer Associate will be integral to the success of the Program for New Mayors and will support the development of a first of its kind guide for mayors and their teams to help them navigate their transition to office and first 100 days.

 

Tasks and Deliverables:
  • Support interviews with transition directors, core staff, and mayors in notetaking and synthesizing qualitative interview data.
  • Lead ideation for testing the guide elements and develop a plan for incorporating data for the user testing.
  • Identify content gaps and lead project management activities to create new content, receive feedback from faculty, and incorporate into the guide.

  • Interest in cities and the mayor’s role in affecting change
  • Experience in primary data collection a plus
  • Experience in data management and data visualization a plus
  • Experience in political campaigns a plus

 

Compensation: $21/hour
