About the Event
Co-sponsored with the Taubman Center for State and Local Government and the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School
As frontline social problem-solvers, mayors are often looking for new approaches to tackling issues like homelessness, crime, poverty, and the impact of climate change. Mayor Cherelle Parker of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Mayor Daniel Rickenmann of Columbia, South Carolina will reflect on policy and management challenges in cities. Both mayors were hosts of Transition Term student teams, and they will also discuss how universities can help local governments develop, test, and implement solutions.
Bloomberg Center for Cities Director Jorrit de Jong will moderate the conversation and audience Q&A. This event is part of the Bloomberg Center for Cities inaugural urban research conference: Evidence for Problem Solving.
In-person event open to Harvard University ID holders. Watch the livestream via the Institute of Politics YouTube channel.
