Data-Smart City Solutions is seeking support conducting due diligence on incoming nominations for a global award program for city leaders.
The Summer Associate will work closely with Data-Smart City Solutions Senior Program Director and PMI's Senior Advisor to design and develop practical tools and resources that help new and current chiefs of staff succeed quickly and lead effectively in city government.
The City Hall Fellowship Summer Associate will support the City Hall Fellowship in developing new programmatic approaches to alumni engagement and placement of current and previous Fellows in city government careers. This work will help advance a core fellowship goal: strengthening the pipeline of talent into city governments. The Summer Associate will collaborate closely with the City Hall Fellowship team to research pathways into city government by engaging with Bloomberg Harvard network cities and program alumni.
The Mayoral Elections Summer Associate will support the Bloomberg Center for Cities mayoral recruitment efforts by building a comprehensive understanding of upcoming elections across the United States and select global cities. This role goes beyond data collection. The Summer Associate will help identify which cities are most relevant for engagement, assess electoral dynamics (including incumbency and competitiveness), and generate actionable insights to inform outreach strategies to current and future mayors. The Summer Associate will work closely with the Strategy and Recruitment team and report directly to the Senior Mayoral Recruitment and Strategy Analyst.
The Program Impact Summer Associate will support the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative Strategy and Impact team in analyzing internal data collected over nine cohorts of the program for additional analysis, updates, and summarization of impact at the individual skill building level, in terms of shifts in organizational practices, and improvements in resident outcomes.
The Summer Associate will report to the Data-Smart City Solutions Senior Program Director and play a central role in translating early-stage experimentation into usable knowledge for city leaders. This includes supporting project management, synthesizing insights from fellows' first 90 days, analyzing AI-enabled workflows emerging in cities, and helping design a knowledge-sharing platform for the full cohort.
Reporting to the Project Manager for Student Engagement, the Summer Associate for Student Program Evaluation and Data Systems will support the Student Engagement team through applied research, data organization, and internal data infrastructure development. The position centers on two primary projects: (1) the development, administration, and preliminary analysis of an applicant experience survey for a fellowship program; and (2) the continued development of an internal dashboard to improve access to student program data across multiple cities. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Summer Associate may support other administrative and program-related tasks connected to student engagement initiatives during the summer.
The Technology Leadership in Cities Summer Associate will play a key role in assessing how technology leaders in cities—such as chief technology officers and heads of information technology—are navigating today’s rapidly evolving environment. The Summer Associate will help identify the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing these leaders and support the design of a program that responds to their needs.
