About

Neel leads the team responsible for developing and maintaining the center’s finances, administrative systems, processes, and operations to support the success of colleagues and organizational excellence.

Neel has 20 years of experience in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors focusing on cross-functional, systems-wide organizational change and effectiveness. Previously, Neel served as senior director of administration and operations in Harvard’s Office for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging. He led the establishment of the office, including strategic planning, recruiting staff, and developing the infrastructure needed to support the university’s chief diversity and inclusion officer and Harvard’s data-based approach to advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Neel also worked in Harvard’s Office of Financial Strategy and Planning, where he focused on special projects such as endowment policy, multi-year financial planning, and strategic financial management. Prior to his time at Harvard, Neel served as a Chief of Staff in the Massachusetts Senate, managing a legislative office and serving as senior policy and political advisor with a focus on housing, environment, healthcare, anti-poverty, and government transparency issues.

Neel holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Boston University and a master’s degree in public administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Neel lives in Massachusetts with his wife, Natalie, daughter, Reya, and dogs, Harlow and Finley.
