Mahi Lal is a Master in Public Policy candidate at the Harvard Kennedy School. Her academic and professional interests focus on labor economics, policy analysis, and public finance.
Recently, Mahi interned at NITI Aayog, the Government of India’s apex public policy think tank, where she analyzed vocational education programs and their impact on economic mobility in India’s eastern states. She also worked with Muheem, an NGO dedicated to grassroots development reforms for marginalized communities in India. Previously, Mahi was a research analyst at Optimal Solutions Group, where she supported the U.S. Department of Education and the Small Business Administration in addressing post-COVID achievement gaps and fostering access to credit for small businesses.
Her undergraduate honors thesis explored wage discrimination faced by migrant nurses in the U.S. through a mixed-methods approach, blending labor market analysis with personal narratives.
